AI coupled iontronic tactile sensory system for plant species and growth-stage classification
The researchers present an iontronic-interface assisted tactile sensory system for plant species and growth-stage classification.
Considering the difference in texture, hardness, and water content for various plant leaves, the iontronic interfaces between conductive electrode and plant leaves provide interfacial capacitance and resistance information.
Coupled with a machine-learning algorithm, the iontronic-interface-assisted tactile sensory system’s capability to classify 10 plant leaves and five growth stages is demonstrated separately.
This machine learning coupled with tactile and iontronic sensing system could be used in precision agriculture, ecological studies, and plant disease detection.
