Brain organoid methodologies to explore multiple sclerosis

An autoimmune disorder that leads to demyelination and neuroinflammation is termed Multiple sclerosis (MS).

Three distinct forms of MS: relapsing–remitting MS (RRMS), primary progressive MS (PPMS), and secondary progressive. Treatment options for progressive MS (pMS) is currently lacking, although, some relief to people with RRMS is available.

Human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technologies and brain organoids are tools for disease modeling in both 2D and 3D in vitro environments and may help to unravel disease mechanisms.

This review discusses brain organoid techniques and the shortcomings of the technology to understand MS at a greater detail and to develop therapeutics.
