Extraction of membrane proteins into native nanodiscs
The researchers present a high-throughput platform for extracting membrane proteins (MPs) into native nanodiscs.
They also provide an open-access database that quantifies the polymer-specific extraction efficiency for 2,065 unique mammalian MPs. They also show that MPs from different organellar membranes can be extracted with high efficiency and purity.
They also demonstrate that database can be extended to capture overexpressed multiprotein complexes by taking two synaptic vesicle MPs.
The method provides the most optimized extraction condition that retains the local membrane context.
