How SPβ family phages control lysis–lysogeny decisions

SPβ-like phages use a peptide-based communication system to modulate lysis–lysogeny decisions.
Due to co-evolution, the regulatory networks of SPβ-like phages and the host cell are closely intertwined. Possibly, further interactions between factors of the phage and the host bacterium will be discovered.
Although closely related, the characterization of SPβ-like phages reveals interesting differences between the model systems.
To fully elucidate the differences between SPβ-like phages, the identified factors of the lysis–lysogeny decision need further characterization.
