Transient receptor potential melastatin (TRPM) channels have been implicated in cerebral ischemia– reperfusion (I/R) injury.
The authors discuss the role of TRPM channels in oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammation, and calcium overload.
They also discuss the challenges and future directions in targeting TRPM channels for cerebral I/R injury.
