Clearing truncated tau protein restores neuronal function in tauopathy

Alzheimer’s disease and other tauopathies show characteristic truncated tau protein at Asp 421, which likely to have a role in disease progression.
The researchers in this study show that antibody-mediated clearance of these fragments via intraneuronal lysosomes prevents tau toxicity, improves neuronal function, and reduces inflammation in culture and animal models.
