Senescence and tissue fibrosis

Tissue fibrosis across multiple organs contain senescent cells.

The researchers in this review discuss animal models of fibrosis, where, selective elimination of senescent cells, pharmacologically or genetically, retarded the fibrosis.

They also discuss, how, targeting senescence using so-called senolytics protects against fibrotic diseases.
