Staphylococcus aureus Bacteremia!

In about 30% of people Staphylococcus aureus, a gram-positive bacterium, exists in the human nares, skin, throat, and gastrointestinal tract.
If S aureus breaches the skin or mucosal barriers, it can be a virulent pathogen, entering the host bloodstream and can attach to the surface of host tissues.
S aureus causes 300 000 deaths per year worldwide and the fatality rate of 15% to 30%.
Vancomycin or daptomycin are used as antibiotic treatment against MRSA.
