The researchers report that GBM resists the antipsychotic drug pimozide treatment by activating SREBP-1, which unexpectedly elevates glutamine consumption by upregulating the expression of ASCT2.
They demonstrate combining pimozide with a pharmacological blockade of glutamine consumption effectively inhibits GBM growth in vivo, presenting a promising avenue for targeting GBM.
