How aging affects cancer?

Immunotherapy has emerged as a central pillar of modern cancer treatment; however, clinical responses remain heterogeneous, underscoring the need to delineate and overcome barriers to achieving therapeutic efficacy.

Aging is associated with systemic immune remodeling characterized by altered hematopoiesis, thymic involution, chronic low-grade inflammation, and cell-intrinsic immune dysfunction.

This age-associated immune landscape can compromise antitumor immunity and modulate responsiveness to immunotherapy.

Interventions that restore or rejuvenate immune function represent promising strategies to enhance the efficacy of current immunotherapies.
