Changes in metabolic functions in aged mice
Metabolic dysregulation is a hallmark of aging, but how metabolic pathway activity (flux) changes with age has yet to be broadly assessed.
The researchers in this study measure metabolite concentrations in serum and tissues and fluxes in aged mice.
They found that major metabolic fluxes are remarkably well preserved with age despite widespread concentration changes in glucose, lactate, 3-hydroxybutryate, and many amino acids (but notably not taurine)..
