Uveitis in Adults

Uveitis affects adults aged 20 to 50 years and is characterized by inflammation of the uvea, which consists of the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. 

Symptoms include eye redness, pain, photophobia, floaters, and blurred vision.

Risk factors include, infections, air pollution, and tobacco smoking and of genetic variables.

Corticosteroid eyedrops are first-line treatment for noninfectious anterior uveitis and antirheumatic drugs are first-line therapy for posterior noninfectious uveitis. Patients with refractory inflammation, second-line treatment include biologics, adalimumab.

Systemic infection mediated Uveitis are treated with antimicrobials.
