How dural lymphatic regulates social behavior

The dural lymphatics expand uniquely postnatally during a critical window for brain maturation and contribute to brain maintenance but the mechanism is not clear.

The researchers identify  cell death and phagocytosis by meningeal macrophage in the refinement of the lymphatic vasculature during normal development.

The availability of growth factors (VEGF-c), cell death, and phagocytosis all act in the refinement of the lymphatics.

Failure to refine these additional lymphatic vessels contributes to abnormalities in social behavior.
