Structural understanding of opioid allostery

Although analgesia is produced by the activation of μ opioid receptor (MOR), it has dangerous side effects too.
Allosteric site with a different pharmacology that resides outside the usual normal drug pocket, present a novel opportunity to activate the MOR without much side effects.
Currently there are studies on how allosteric modulators interact with MOR.
