Hydrogen sulfide-mediated persulfidation and ferroptosis in non-small cell lung cancer

The researchers show that HS sensitizes NSCLC cells to ferroptosis through cysteine persulfidation of S-adenosyl homocysteine hydrolase, reducing its activity.

This leads to decreased levels of homocysteine, cysteine, and glutathione, promoting ferroptosis, particularly in low cystine conditions.

These results suggest HS enhances ferroptosis-based treatments for NSCLC.
