Regulation of Skeletal Muscle Development and Homeostasis by Polyphenols

Healthy living helps maintaining overall body health and preventing several degenerative diseases. Healthy muscular system by eating a balanced diet with regular physical exercise also plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health. 

Polyphenols, present in fruits, vegetables, and plant-derived foods, prevent oxidative stress and inflammation, processes that affect muscle cell health and are involved in the regulation of muscle cell development and differentiation, as well as in the regeneration processes following injury or excessive physical exertion.

The authors in this review discuss the role of polyphenols on skeletal muscle growth, development, and maintenance, with a focus on their mechanisms of action and therapeutic potential of extraction and administration strategies of polyphenols.
